Early pickup in Arusha and a two-hour drive to Tarangire for a long game drive along the Tarangire River, where large elephant herds gather in the dry season. Late afternoon drive up the Rift Valley escarpment to Karatu.

Descend 600 metres into the crater at first light for a game drive among black rhino, lions, buffalo and hippos. Picnic lunch on the crater floor, then return to Arusha in the late afternoon.
